Mohammed Khamis Al Naqbi, the Deputy Governor of the region, emphasized that development projects in Shis are ongoing, guided by the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
In an exclusive interview with "Sharjah 24," he shared that a new fuel station has been completed to cater to both residents and the influx of tourists who visit the area to enjoy its breathtaking scenery. Just a few meters from the station, located at the entrance of Shis and adjacent to the Shis rest house, construction of the Shis Mosque—the largest mosque in the region—is nearing completion.
Al Naqbi also noted that infrastructure improvements continue apace, with the road connecting Shis Park to the residential areas having been paved to international standards.
The Deputy Governor pointed out that, thanks to the diligent efforts and forward-thinking vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Shis has emerged as one of the key tourist destinations in Sharjah, firmly establishing itself on the country’s tourist map.
To further bolster its growing tourism appeal, various supporting facilities are being developed. This follows the completion and expansion of Shis Park amidst the mountains, alongside the rest house which offers a wide array of products.
Heritage tourism is also being prioritized, with ongoing efforts to restore and evolve the old area steeped in decades of history, under the supervision of the "Mubadara" Authority.
Additionally, relevant authorities are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the aflaj system that supplies water to the farms known for their agricultural bounty, thereby strengthening food security in the region.
Al Naqbi highlighted that work also continues to establish a heritage village and a venue for events and celebrations, managed by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage.
In summary, all these initiatives aim to create a harmonious integration within the area, featuring modern villas, an advanced health center, a park for residents, a children's nursery, and a branch of the Sharjah Cooperative Society, among other facilities designed to meet community needs.
