Sharjah24: Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in Kalba on Saturday attended the opening of the fourth edition of the Dibba Al Hisn Cultural Festival. The event, hosted by the Eastern Region’s Department of Culture, took place at Flagpole Square in Dibba Al Hisn.
The opening ceremony saw the presence of His Excellency Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority; His Excellency Ahmed Abdullah bin Yaroof Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Dibba Al Hisn Municipal Council; Mohammed Saleh Al Suwaiji, Director of the Eastern Region’s Department of Culture; as well as numerous government officials and a significant turnout from the Eastern Region community.
Dr. Wafaa Al Ghoul, Director of the Department of Culture in Dibba Al Hisn informed Sharjah 24 that the festival commenced with a unique operetta named “Pride of the Nation.” The project was produced by the Department of Culture in the Eastern Region, with supervision from Mohammed Saleh Al Suwaiji. The concept was developed by Dr. Wafa Al Ghoul, the writing was handled by Hamid Fares, and direction was provided by Mubarak Mashi.
Dr. Al Ghoul emphasised the participation of a notable group of Emirati artists at the event, featuring several poets and artists. The festival also showcased folkloric performances by the Mubarak Al Otaiba Folklore Group, the Al Mazyoud War Band, and students from Dibba Al Hisn schools.
The operetta showcased nine distinct artistic scenes that shown the history of the UAE, highlighting the lives of ancestors. It then transitioned to showcase the journey of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who turned the vision of unity into a tangible reality. Eventually, it showcased the extensive progress noticed in the UAE across various sectors.
