Sharjah24: The Family Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council convened for its inaugural meeting during the second ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term at the council's headquarters in Sharjah.
The committee convened to evaluate its strategies and goals centred on addressing family and community concerns, particularly emphasising discussions related to the well-being of family members. The meeting was chaired by Saeed Matar bin Hamid Al-Tunaiji and included committee members Rashid Ghanem Al-Shamsi, the committee’s rapporteur, Abdullah Al-Badawi Al-Hosani, Abdullah bin Madaan Al-Ketbi, Abdullah bin Tarish Al-Kaabi, Mohammed Al-Alawi Al-Zahouri, Humaid Obaid Al-Hamoudi, and Dr. Hind Al-Hajri. In attendance were Halima Al-Owais, Vice-President of the Council; Ahmed Saeed Al-Jarwan, Secretary General; and Huda Al-Hammadi, Committee Secretary.

Al Tunaiji highlighted that the meeting is by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, along with Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, aimed at reinforcing family and social values.

Al Tunaiji announced that the committee will continue in its efforts to study matters impacting families and children, delivering reports and recommendations aimed at improving policies and social services. The committee's dedication to maintaining family unity and reinforcing its importance as a cornerstone of a robust society was emphasised through the examination of family challenges and the provision of appropriate solutions.

Additionally, he highlighted that the committee intends to arrange workshops and seminars aimed at increasing awareness of family-related issues, thus playing a role in the development of future generations.

The committee emphasised the necessity of working together with different governmental and private organisations to meet its goals and improve integrated services for families and children. The Family Affairs Committee remains committed to advancing Sharjah’s vision of ensuring a secure and sustainable environment for families.
