Sharjah24: Sharjah Department of Culture (SDC) has released the 86th issue of Al Hira From Sharjah magazine, a publication dedicated to Nabati and folk poetry and literature.
Exploring the evolution of Nabati poetry.

The "At the Table" section of this issue discusses the evolution of Nabati and folk poetry regarding both form and content, while the "Ascents" section showcases poems by pioneering Nabati poets from the UAE and the Gulf. Additionally, the "Rivers of Wonder" and "Al Hira Orchard" sections present selected poems by poets of diverse ages and literary schools.

Celebrating pioneering emirate poets

The "Luminous Treasures" section highlights the work of the late Emirati poet Ali Bal-Ateeb Al-Amri and his creative contributions to the Taghrouda art form, while the "Ink of Pioneers" section celebrates the life and work of the late Emirati poet Butti bin Khalifa Al-Omaimi. The "Provisions of the Years" section documents the desert and maritime environments as depicted in Nabati poetry across the Arabian Peninsula.

Examining poetry themes and imagery

The "Descriptions" section offers an analysis of the palm tree—its symbolism and imagery—within Nabati poetry. The "Windows of the Self" section examines the work of Saudi poetess Lina Al-Ajaji ("Hattan"), and the "Publications and Highlights" section reviews the poetry collection Salt Ships (Marakib al-Milh) by Omani poet Rashid Al-Azzani.

Finally, the "Thresholds of Beauty" section explores the theme of friendship in Nabati poetry as both a creative and ethical concept, while the "Spaces" section examines the imagery of lightning and its manifestations within Nabati verse.
