Sharjah24: The Sharjah Districts Affairs Department (SDAD), and the Ministry of Education (MoE) recently engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation to support student parent councils and reinforce the family-school partnership.
The talks focused on developing joint strategies to activate the role of these councils as essential links in the educational framework, facilitating improved communication between parents and schools. Proposals included organising joint workshops and providing comprehensive services to assist council members, all aimed at creating a supportive educational environment that fosters active student participation.
Held at the Al Suyoh Suburb Council in Sharjah, the meeting brought together prominent officials. Representing the Department of Suburbs were Dr. Abdullah Suleiman Al Kabouri, Department Director; Mahmoud Ibrahim Al-Marzouqi, Director of Support Services; Rashid Ali Al Ghawi, Director of Legal Services; Mani’ Al-Darmaki, Director of Student Parent Councils; Hamad Al-Ghafli, Office Director; and Hamad Salem Al-Mulla, Legal Researcher. The Ministry of Education was represented by Tariq Yaqub Al-Hashimi, Executive Director of School Branch One; Sheikh Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Mualla, Head of the Sharjah and Central Region Committee; and Khalid Ahmed Al-Shehhi, Director of School Operations.
In his opening address, Dr. Al Kabouri stressed the Department’s commitment to partnering with all stakeholders in education, emphasising that such cooperation is helpful in creating a conducive environment for student success. He highlighted the Department’s initiative to enhance the role of student parent councils through collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Education, aiming to achieve outcomes that benefit both the community and families.
The discussions highlighted the crucial role of student parent councils and their potential to act as vital links between families and schools. The meeting also addressed strategies aimed at bolstering the cooperation frameworks between the two parties, which will enhance the effectiveness of the educational process.
Both parties have reached an agreement to coordinate joint action plans, which will include hosting a series of collaborative workshops. The Ministry of Education will provide various services to support council members during these initiatives. The goal of these initiatives is to enhance resource utilisation, fostering a comprehensive collaboration among schools, families, and communities to support educational, social, and academic goals.
