Sharjah24: The Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation has successfully wrapped up the inaugural edition of the Women’s Government Cup, showcasing approximately 170 employees from 27 government entities throughout Sharjah. The event took place over two days at Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, featuring volleyball, basketball, and shooting competitions, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and team spirit.
The competition showcased impressive performances in every event. In volleyball, Team Sajaya Girls of Sharjah secured the gold and tournament cup, with the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre team finishing in second place and Sharjah Ladies Club taking third. Sajaya Girls of Sharjah claimed the top position in the 3-on-3 basketball format, followed by Al Jawaher Centre in second place and the Sharjah Police Science Academy in third. 

In the shooting competition, Fatima Al Shamsi from the Department of Financial Control secured the gold medal, while Naeema Mohammed from Sharjah Ladies Club earned silver, and Doaa Barakat from Sajaya achieved third place.
Experienced shooters Saeed Salim Al Ali and Fatima Obaid Al Suwaidi enhanced the event with their support and training, significantly elevating the participants' performance.

The technical and administrative teams of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club expertly managed the tournament, ensuring seamless organisation. The presence of spectators contributed to the lively atmosphere, motivating the athletes and elevating the event's overall success.

In conclusion, Hanan Al Mahmoud, vice president of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, recognized the winners and conveyed her pride in the outstanding performances of the participants. She emphasised the significance of these tournaments in enabling Emirati women to engage in sports across various disciplines. 

Al Mahmoud expressed her appreciation to the event’s main sponsor, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, along with supporting partners such as Air Arabia and Sharjah Ladies Club, for their dedication to advancing women’s sports. Representatives from the sponsors were present at the awards ceremony, highlighting their commitment to events that enhance women’s roles in society.
Mouza Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation, expressed her contentment with the championship's success, noting that it aligns with the Foundation’s overarching strategy to boost women’s participation in sports, providing a supportive and competitive atmosphere for female employees. She stated, “The tournament was not just a sporting event but a holistic platform for women to enhance their skills in a professional sports setting, blending enjoyment with significance.”
 
This tournament is an integral component of the foundation’s continuous efforts to empower women, aligning with the vision of Sharjah’s leadership that emphasizes the advancement of Emirati women in various domains, especially sports.
