Taking place at the Sharjah Education Academy on October 12-13, the conference addressed challenges faced by students with learning difficulties through 20 scientific papers and 4 workshops led by experts. Key recommendations included the implementation of a comprehensive evaluation system for educational plans, modern measurement methods, and adapting global practices to local needs.
Her Excellency Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi emphasised the importance of preventive programmes in early childhood education, focusing on skills like attention and social interaction to mitigate learning difficulties. The conference also advocated for training educational professionals in detection and diagnosis, and involving families in support plans.
The discussions encompassed four main axes: measurement and diagnosis, scientific research, support and empowerment, and educational interventions. Notably, the use of artificial intelligence for diagnosing dyslexia was highlighted, alongside efforts to enhance teacher training programs and transitional services for students at various educational levels.
The event was a collaboration between the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties, Sharjah Education Academy, and Princess Tharwat Intermediate University College in Jordan, with sponsorship from various local organisations.
