SWSF concludes 1st volleyball, basketball university cup

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation (SWSF), in partnership with the American University of Sharjah, has successfully wrapped up the inaugural edition of the University Cup for Basketball and Volleyball. The tournament took place at the sports hall of the American University of Sharjah, attracting nearly 300 female students from nine universities and academic institutions throughout the UAE.
Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud, Vice President of the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation honoured the winning teams, in the presence of several dignitaries. 

The Rochester Institute of Technology secured the top position in the volleyball competition, with the American University of Sharjah finishing in second place and the University of Sharjah taking third.

The event served as an opportunity for students to participate in competitive sports, promoting teamwork and athletic growth within university communities throughout the UAE.

Her Excellency highlighted that the impressive participation and accomplishments of the inaugural University Cup for Basketball and Volleyball inspire the Foundation to organise future editions of the tournament. She extended her gratitude to the American University of Sharjah for its exceptional hosting and support in making the event a success. She has further expressed gratitude to the UAE Volleyball and Basketball Federations for their exceptional management of the competitions, 

Her Excellency Hanan Al Mahmoud highlighted the commitment to the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Women's Sports, which focus on the empowerment of women in both sports and society. The initiatives are designed to enhance women's skills and capabilities, playing a vital role in community development and advancement.
