In one episode of the "Hadith Shams" podcast, Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Real Estate Sector Working Group at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was the guest. The discussion covered several real estate, economic, and investment topics, exploring key opportunities and challenges facing the real estate sector, especially in light of Sharjah's urban development. The conversation also focused on improving economic activity through the launch of effective programmes that contribute to enhancing real estate activity in the emirate, as well as the role of the sector-specific working groups under the Sharjah Chamber, which play a key role in fostering communication with relevant government entities. The events organised by the Real Estate Sector Working Group were also highlighted.
During the discussion with "Hadith Shams," Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi emphasised the importance of communication between the private and public sectors to support the work of the groups affiliated with the Sharjah Chamber. He also highlighted that the UAE has an open and flexible policy for both local and foreign investment, with Sharjah having laws and regulations that protect investors’ rights. The Sharjah government has a long-standing law, dating back to the 1980s, ensuring guarantees on every project offered for sale. Under this law, developers must deposit 30% of the project value as a guarantee with the Real Estate Registration Department, ensuring buyers’ rights and eliminating concerns about investing in or purchasing from Sharjah government projects.
Al Suwaidi added that the projects in Sharjah are of high quality, with substantial returns on investment. Compared to other emirates and markets, this encourages investment in the real estate sector. There is also diversity in Sharjah’s real estate offerings and geographical locations, catering to various needs such as housing for students and families. Sharjah is especially known for its family-oriented residential projects, which align with the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. This family-first approach gives Sharjah an advantage. Additionally, Sharjah is a city of knowledge and culture, home to the University City, one of the region’s most renowned academic institutions. This has boosted real estate projects nearby, particularly those serving student accommodation, which are sustainable and long-term ventures.
Al Suwaidi also shared that he began working in the real estate sector with his late father at the age of 15, attending meetings and gatherings at the company, gaining experience across all departments. Today, his leadership in the business stems from years of accumulated expertise in business and real estate management. He noted that real estate investment is one of the most vital types of investment, closely linked to other sectors. For young people to succeed in this field, they need solid assets to support their ventures. He encouraged the youth to educate themselves through the many workshops and courses offered by government departments in Sharjah. Real estate investment is accessible to all, and it can be developed, offering good returns for investors and young people. However, the key is to overcome fear and continue investing in this vital and dynamic sector.
