Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has initiated the first phase of relief for those affected by the recent floods in Bangladesh, which have resulted in casualties and damage impacting over 4 million people.
The UAE Embassy and the SCI office in Dhaka collaborated to distribute urgent aid, which included 28,000 ready-to-eat meals for 28,000 residents in the Noakhali district and 1,300 food parcels containing a variety of essential items.
The Head of Projects Sector and Director of SCI's office in Bangladesh, Mohammed Hamdan Al-Zari, emphasized the implementation of comprehensive relief operations in the most affected areas.
He stated that SCI organised relief convoys in line with the organisation's mission to support those affected by crises and disasters. Al-Zari expressed his regret over the floods' damage and emphasised that SCI's teams have been working to assess the situation, identify the hardest-hit locations, and provide appropriate aid.
So far, the relief efforts have reached 35,800 people across various regions. Al-Zari also emphasized that SCI's emergency response demonstrates the charity's dedication to its founding values, which are to assist those in need, irrespective of their race, religion, or nationality. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the donors and hoped for a swift resolution to the crisis in Bangladesh.
