Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) and the Sharjah Police Headquarters collaborated to host an awareness workshop on August 23, 2024, with the theme "Safe Communication." Captain Ghanima Issa, the Director of the School Liaison Branch at the Social Support Centre, conducted the workshop for 33 orphans from the foundation. It provided ways for secure digital communication, particularly in educational settings, and attempted to raise awareness of personal protection and online security.
Participants in the course learnt how to respond to cyber dangers and exploitation in video games, as well as how to utilise social media safely. It discussed the benefits and drawbacks of social media, how to report cyber extortion, and the legal ramifications of abuse according to UAE cyber legislation.

Nawal Al-Hamadi, director of the foundation's Social Prosperity Department, will equip orphaned children with the knowledge they need to protect themselves online. Her remarks centred on the significance of working together with the Sharjah Police Headquarters to raise awareness about the dangers of unsafe internet use and other contemporary technology.

Noting the children's active participation, Captain Ghanima Issa emphasised the importance of these sessions for the community. The program discussed cyberbullying and problematic online gaming, along with strategies for coping with these issues.

She mentioned, "We reminded kids that they should report abusive accounts and that they should talk to their parents if they feel they're being bullied or scammed."

The foundation's continued commitment to holding workshops where members can learn how to help orphans and their families achieve long-term independence is a key component of its mission.
