Sharjah Summer Blitz Chess Championship concludes

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Summer Blitz Chess Championship was successfully concluded as part of the programme of the fourth week of summer activity of Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled under the theme “Our Holiday us Different” in cooperation with the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council.
100 players, male and female, representing Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled, Mleiha Club, Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, Ittihad Kalba Club, Al Dhaid Club, Al Hamriyah Club, Al Batayeh Club, Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, and the Chess and Culture Club for Sharjah Women, are participating in the event. The event aims to discover and determine the levels of new and unclassified talent in the sport of chess, and to develop the spirit of competition among the participants.

The competitions witnessed the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club player, Talal Mohammed Al Balushi, topping the championship trophy, while the player Yu Zhengbo from the Sharjah Chess Academy came in second place, and the player Ahmed Khalifa Al Baydawi from the Kalba Ittihad Club came in third place. Abdulghafour Ali Al Raisi, Member of the Board of Directors of Al Thiqah Club, Chairman of the Media and Communications Committee, witnessed the competitions and the closing ceremony.

Abdulghafour Ali Al Raisi confirmed that the success of the event was the result of cooperation between Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled and the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club and the constant support of the Sharjah Sports Council through its various programmes for summer activity, and that this event is considered one of the strongest chess events for young people at the state level, through which the club hopes for continued cooperation between the state’s clubs with all their specialisations and ambitions to care for our youth and encourage them to compete honestly in all fields and create a new generation capable of facing the challenges of the future.
