Sharjah 24: Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled in Sharjah organised many activities and programmes to celebrate the Union Pledge Day, which was announced by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and falls on July 18, so that the club’s members with disabilities express their pride in their country, and developing their spirit of belonging to the homeland.
The celebration included many activities that enhance the spirit of belonging to the homeland and wise leadership, including Emirati craftsmanship skills, lectures on the history of the UAE and its union, Emirati popular foods, drawing workshops of Emirati heritage, popular games, and Emirati fashion shows.
Kaltham Obaid, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled and Director of the women’s branch, confirmed that the Union Pledge Day is one of the great occasions in the history of the UAE, where the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his brothers, the rulers of the Emirates, signed the document of the union and the constitution of the UAE, and announced the name of the country, in preparation for the union on December 2, 1971, and therefore this solemn occasion was celebrated in the history of UAE, through many events that enhance the spirit of belonging for members with disabilities.
