Sharjah24: The Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (SDPW) completed a project to double the depth of Al Hamriyah Creek, enhance marina capacity, and build a new ship berth.
The effort intends to improve the creek's efficiency, repair damaged quay parts, and eliminate weather-related interruptions.
Engineer Hind Al Hashimi stated that the project reflects the Directorate's ongoing efforts to improve marine infrastructure and services in a sustainable manner, thereby increasing navigation safety in Al Hamriyah Creek and supporting the emirate's economic and social development.
The project required extensive research, the excavation of 38,000 cubic metres of seabed sand to improve depth to 4 metres, and the construction of 28 berths to accommodate vessels up to 50 feet. We also built a new 59-metre ship dock to meet the increasing demands of the marine industry.
Al Hashimi emphasised the directorate's commitment to additional strategic initiatives to enhance infrastructure and meet community needs, and he urged collaboration to safeguard the established facilities for future generations.
