Sharjah 24: As part of the “Spend Summer with Us” initiative, Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW), in cooperation with its strategic partners, organised a community event by distributing smart self-cooling fans to 120 workers in Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation building project under construction, protecting them from summer heat.
The event came within the framework of the SDPW societal and humanitarian role in establishing the values of volunteerism and teamwork among various segments of society, which supports sustainable community development and consolidates authentic values in Emirati society. A number of SDPW employees, from different departments and sections, participated in the event reflecting the SDPW's keenness to enhance social responsibility.
The SDPW employees distributed smart fans to the workers at their sites, which brought joy to the hearts of the workers, who felt that officials cared about them and protected them from the danger that might surround them due to the high temperatures.
Engineer Alia Al Rand, Director of the SDPW Building Projects Department, confirmed that the smart fan was distributed to field workers in different professions and service sites, especially workers who are constantly exposed to sunlight, explaining that this good initiative did not stop at distributing smart fans only, but also included distributing refreshments, raising their awareness of ways to protect themselves from the sun’s rays, in an attempt to reduce heat exhaustion when the body is exposed to the sun for long periods.
Al Rand stressed that workers are constantly visited at the work sites to receive refreshments and cold water, which encourages workers to work hard and creates a good spirit within the work team.
