Sharjah24: The number of beneficiaries from Sharjah Charity International's (SCI) sacrifice meat (Udhiyah) initiative, which ran from 2015 to last year's campaign (2023) and was disclosed in a report prepared for the next Eid al-Adha season, has surpassed one million. Low-income households both within and beyond the nation received the meat from 87,580 sacrifices.
Every year, a dedicated team meticulously plans and executes the initiative, according to Abdullah Saif bin Hindi, Chairman of the High Committee for the Eid al-Adha Campaign.

Inspection, slaughter, and distribution are the responsibilities of the many subcommittees that together form this committee. The team's members have committed themselves to carrying out the sacrifice meat campaign in observance of religious ceremonies and in recognition of human values that demonstrate unity among the community.

Organisations like this serve as intermediaries, taking in gifts and sacrifices from kind people and then dispersing them according to systems that are both clear and accurate.

With 8,630 sacrifices distributed in 2015, 9,600 in 2016, 9,500 in 2017, 9,150 in 2018, 9,200 in 2019, 6,500 in 2020, 9,300 in 2021, 11,500 in 2022, and a peak of 14,200 during the last Eid al-Adha campaign in 2023, he noted that the organisation had distributed 87,580 sacrifices both inside and outside the country from 2015 until the last campaign.

Ibn Hindi went on to explain that they used tenders to obtain the best proposals for humanitarian work and resource optimization, and that these tenders led to the creation of contracts with traders and livestock suppliers.

He pointed out that the sacrificial meat campaigns spanned a number of other humanitarian endeavours with the goal of providing assistance to those in need.
