Sharjah24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has disclosed the results of its medical aid activities for the previous year (2023), unveiling that it extended medical support to 1106 patients, totaling AED 22.2 million in expenditure. This assistance was provided subsequent to thorough evaluations conducted by the aid committee to ascertain eligibility. Reports from social and field research underscored the significant need among these cases, prompting the association to offer aid in alignment with its mission of ensuring a dignified life for the deserving.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director of SCI, affirmed that in adherence to the vision of His His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and in accordance with the public policy endorsed by the association's board of directors, there has been an expansion in general assistance, particularly targeting patients unable to cover their treatment expenses. The association has strived to enhance its medical aid initiatives and provide medications to patients by addressing obstacles impeding the swift execution of assistance, thereby facilitating timely access to treatment, alleviating suffering, and aiding recovery for recipients to regain normalcy in their lives.

He further stated that the medical aid programmes encompassed a variety of cases, including critical surgeries such as cardiac catheterisation, heart surgeries, strokes, liver, bone marrow, and kidney transplants, in addition to patients with chronic diseases, cancer patients, and kidney failure patients. Moreover, medical aid covered the expenses of childbirth, fertility treatments, and in vitro fertilisation, as well as settling the debts of financially distressed patients unable to afford their treatment costs. This was achieved through partnerships with healthcare institutions following comprehensive assessments of cases to determine eligibility for assistance.

He expressed sincere appreciation to the benefactors for their steadfast support and assistance to the association's projects and initiatives, underscoring their contribution to enhancing the trajectory of charitable and humanitarian endeavours.
