Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Children’s Swimming Festival saw enthusiastic participation from 170 youngsters, both boys and girls, ranging from 6 to 12 years old.
Organised by Sharjah Children of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, the festival took place on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The event unfolded at the Children’s Centre swimming pool in Al Qarayen for boys and at the Children’s Centre in Halwan for girls.

The festival's objectives were twofold: to foster a sports culture among children and to promote a spirit of healthy competition while assessing and enhancing their swimming skills.

In the 6-8 age group for boys, Khaled Jassim Mohammed from the Raqqa Children’s Centre clinched the top spot in the 25-metre backstroke race, closely followed by Salem Mohammed Khamis from Wadi Al Helo Children’s Centre. Mana’ Mohammed Hassan from Raqqa Children’s Centre secured the third position. Zayed Jassim from Al Khalidiya Children’s Centre dominated the 25-metre two-legged belly button race, with Rashid Obaid Rashid from Al Mudam Children’s Centre coming in second and Mohammed Ali Hassan from Khorfakkan Children’s Centre in third place. Amir Hassan Al Shaibani from Raqqa Children’s Centre triumphed in the 25-meter freestyle race, trailed by Khalifa Mohammed Ahmed from Al Khalidiya Children’s Centre in second place and Salam Ragheed from Al Khalidiya Children’s Centre in third.

In the 6-8 age group for girls, Mazaya Salem and Haya Shaheen from Khorfakkan Children’s Centre secured the first and second positions respectively in the 18-metre backstroke race, with Sarah Ahmed from Kalba Children’s Centre claiming third. Dhai Saif from Kalba Children’s Centre emerged victorious in the 18-meter double-handed abdominal race.
