Sharjah 24: The Sharjah men's basketball team clinched a win against the host team, Al Bataeh, with a score of 100-96 in the match held on Thursday evening at the Sharjah Club hall. This match was part of the first-leg match for the third-place (bronze medal) in the men's basketball league for the sports season 2023-2024.
The results of the first three quarters favoured Sharjah with scores of 28-25, 25-23, and 22-21, before Al Bataeh dominated the fourth quarter with a score of 27-25.
The two teams will meet again in the return match scheduled for next Sunday, April 7th, at the Al Bataeh Club hall to determine the winner of the bronze medal and third place in the overall league competition.
It's worth noting that the draw for the Cup of His Highness the President of the UAE for Basketball for the current season 2023-2024 resulted in a first-round matchup between Sharjah and Al Bataeh in a home-and-away system. The winner will face Al Dhafra in the quarter-finals, and the winner of that match will meet Shabab Al Ahli, the league champion from last season, in the semi-finals.
