Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) marks the International Women's Day, which is celebrated annually on March 8.
In her remarks on the occasion, Sheikha Hind bint Majid Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC), said: "This year, the world observes International Women's Day under the theme 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress'. It is an occasion to honour women and their achievements, underscore their pivotal contribution across various sectors, especially in establishing and leading business and economic projects that benefit society, support its development and prosperity, and elevate the standard of living for its members."
Sheikha Hind lauded the achievements of Emirati women who now hold top positions in scientific and academic institutions and economic centres, serving as developmental models for women worldwide, and stressed that women in Sharjah are a fundamental element in the cultural project led by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
She emphasised that the establishment of the SBWC under the patronage of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, in 2002, has amplified the impact of women's roles and contributions towards realizing the nation's vision and strategic objectives, reinforcing their involvement in driving holistic development across both the emirate and the UAE.
