Sharjah24: As part of its efforts to encourage innovation and provide high-quality healthcare, Khorfakkan Hospital, a part of Emirates Health Services (EHS), has launched a new initiative called "Our Elders, Barakat Al Dar". This initiative aims to provide senior citizens aged 60 years and above with comprehensive support and quality healthcare services for medical appointments.
The EHS Foundation is committed to providing quality healthcare services and comprehensive support to senior citizens, in line with the "We Are the UAE 2031" vision. This vision emphasizes the importance of providing health and social care to all segments of society, including the elderly, to achieve the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071. The UAE's ambitious vision aims to improve the quality of life of its citizens and residents by raising the level of healthcare, reflecting a healthy and prosperous future for all.
Dr. Abdullah Al Balushi, Director General of Khorfakkan Hospital, has confirmed that the "Our Elders are a Blessing Home" initiative meets the needs of senior citizens by aligning with the strategies and directions of EHS. The initiative aims to strengthen the healthcare system for all members of society by making the process of obtaining healthcare services easier and improving the quality of life for the elderly. The initiative includes several benefits that directly serve the needs of the elderly, such as obtaining priority in booking medical appointments.
The hospital is committed to providing innovative and effective healthcare services to senior citizens. The initiative creates a positive, safe, and comfortable environment for the elderly, focusing on prevention and early care. The goal is to encourage a culture of interest in health and self-care among this age group. The initiative also allows senior citizens to have regular medication dispensing appointments every three months, ensuring that they have access to the medications they need regularly.
Additionally, the initiative creates a database that facilitates organizing proactive appointments for some health initiatives, such as early detection of some diseases that affect the elderly, after obtaining the necessary approvals. The service prioritizes senior citizens' preferences when scheduling appointments, coordinating with the medical and administrative staff. Within the initiative, senior citizens are given priority in obtaining internal clinic services and dispensing medications, ultimately contributing to better management of disease cases and improving healthcare quality.
