Additionally, it will establish a “sustainable garden” within the activities of the Sharjah Heritage Days in Al Hamriyah, held in the Heritage Village in Al Hamriyah during February 26-27.
Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, emphasised that these activities reflect the Municipality's interest in agriculture and afforestation based on the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. His Highness is keen to preserve the green style decorated with various areas of Sharjah and highlight the aesthetic aspects.
Al Shamsi added that Afforestation Week has become an annual event through which the Municipality publishes many awareness messages about the importance of planting trees and increasing green areas and patches. This is in support of the Sharjah government's efforts aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability in the Emirate of Sharjah, developing the agricultural sector and afforestation, and preserving the green cover and local trees, which represent an important national heritage.
This year's “Afforestation Week” activities coincided with the Sharjah Heritage Days in Hamriyah. The Municipality's national cadres will highlight the importance of Afforestation Week by holding several workshops for children and visitors to the Heritage Days in Hamriyah. They will also hold competitions related to the Afforestation Week and interactive activities to educate visitors and those interested in the requirements of sustainability and the environment, and the importance of preserving them.
