Agricultural Innovation:
Welcoming the visiting government delegation was His Excellency Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of Department of Agriculture & Livestock, along with several department directors. He emphasized that Sharjah has succeeded in using modern technologies, harnessing agricultural innovation capabilities, and adopting best practices in the wheat farm to enhance production and preserve the environment.
Facing Challenges:
His Excellency Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi pointed out that despite its importance in supporting local economies, the agricultural sector faces natural challenges and industrial impacts, especially in dry environments and high-temperature desert regions. This necessitates the allocation of resources and capabilities towards the adoption of smart agricultural technologies and utilizing these innovation-based systems to overcome these challenges, with the aim of promoting sustainable agricultural development.
Promising Projects:
The department's director highlighted the major development projects launched by the Sharjah government in the agricultural and animal sectors, including the wheat farm project. He affirmed the department's commitment to benefit from the best global experiences and practices in the agricultural field and establish strategic partnerships with leading companies specialized in modern agricultural technologies.
Smart Wheat Farming Techniques:
On her part, Razaan Al-Hammadi, Acting Director of the Green Development Department at the Department of Agriculture & Livestock, explained that the event program included an informative presentation on the modern techniques used in wheat farming. Visitors also enjoyed a bakery workshop using "Seven Spikes " high-quality flour produced in Sharjah. The visit concluded with a field tour aboard a tourist bus to observe the facilities of the wheat farm and learn about agricultural technology applications.
Artificial Intelligence:
Artificial intelligence techniques are used in farm management and irrigation at the farm. This includes capturing thermal images through satellites and processing them using specialized platforms such as PlatFarm.io and Vally 365. These platforms enable remote control of pumps and irrigation devices, monitoring device performance, and measuring water quantity by providing daily reports on farm axes. The smart systems introduced to the attendees facilitate weather monitoring, soil quality monitoring, and increase production rates, growth, and maturity of the wheat crop.
