Sharjah 24: Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS) kicked off the activities of 5th Arabic Language Competitions for the Gulf States, on Sunday, which will continue until February 21.
The competition seeks to deepen loyalty and belonging to the Arabic language as it is one of the most important tools for strengthening national identity.
ALECGS received delegations of participating countries including the delegations of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Each delegation includes three students and a supervisor nominated by the Ministry of Education from each participating Gulf country. The participating delegations were escorted to the residence in Sharjah, where the competitions are held at ALECGS in Sharjah.
The Arabic Language students nominated from ALECGS member states will be guests of the Emirates in Sharjah.
Dr. Issa Al Hammadi, Director of ALECGS, confirmed that the competitions will be held under the patronage of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and aims to promote youth belonging and allegiance to the Arabic.
Al Hammadi pointed out that the Arabic language competitions are being held in Sharjah at ALECGS headquarters, and a written exam will be held on the eighteenth of February, oral exams on the nineteenth of February, and the closing ceremony will be held on the twenty-first of February.
Al Hammadi pointed out that the competition will work to strengthen ties and enhance communication between creative people in the Arabic language at all levels, stoke the spirit of competition between creative and talented students in the field of the Arabic language, and enhance self-confidence of creative and talented students in the field of the Arabic language.
Al Hammadi explained that the Arabic language competitions will work to discover creative and talented students in the field of the Arabic language, direct them to invest in their abilities, and contribute to the development of the Arabic language curricula and strategies in ALECGS member states.
