During the meeting, which took place at the Regional Hall of UNESCO at the Arab Heritage Center affiliated with the institute, the board discussed the agenda items in the presence of Dr. Moni Bonama, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Award, and board members Dr. Majid Abdullah Bou Shlibi, Dr. Saif Mohammed Al Badowi, Fatima Ahmed Obaid Al Maghni, and Dr. Hamad bin Mohammed bin Sarray.
The board members praised the leading role of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage in maintaining the continuity of the award through its previous editions, and the envisioned prospects for the new edition, including cultural and scientific programs, promotional campaigns, and awareness-raising activities about the award, as well as the timeline for the launch of the new edition.
The board agreed on several topics to elevate the award to an international level, especially since the award is considered the first Arab award to adopt such international standards in all its fields.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam stated that during the meeting, they discussed the general policies on which the award is based, the goals it aims to achieve, the practical and artistic aspects of nomination, submission mechanisms, nomination criteria, judging stages, and the timelines associated with them, among other matters related to the essence of the award. He also mentioned that the board reviewed the timeline for the fifth edition of the award and the proposed list of jury members.
Al-Musallam added that the award aspires to create an enabling environment for the sustainability of cultural heritage, raise awareness about human heritage, honor successful efforts, and support inspiring initiatives at the local, regional, and international levels.
