Sharjah24: The Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah held, on Thursday evening, an intellectual symposium about the rules of the purposes.
The lecture dealt with the validity of Islamic legislation for every time and place, and since the legislative texts are limited and confined, while the developments are endless, there is a need for an approach to be established that guarantees the continuation of these texts in a way that covers current and future case, by resorting to the rules of the purposes (Maqasid Al Shariah).
The lecture highlighted the notion of “excessive or inattentive” in dealing with Islamic texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah, where there are always two parties, one of whom stands at the literalness of the texts exaggeratedly, and the other resorts to hollowing the texts.
As for moderation, it analyses the texts and extracts the general rules and hidden purposes. With that methodology, Muslim scholars created a scientific methodology in dealing with texts, called: “Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence.”
