UAE gets first gold medal in Arab Aquatics Age Grp. Championships

Sharjah 24: Today, Friday, Hamad Yousef Al Shehhi, the Al Hamriyah team swimmer, presented the UAE national team with a gold medal in the second Arab Aquatics Age Group Championships, held in Doha, Qatar, from January 10 to 15.
Al Shehhi’s gold came in the 50-metre freestyle, bringing the national team’s total medals to 3, after Al-Shehhi’s bronze (100-meter freestyle swimming, U-14) and Hamad Al Ali (50-metre backstroke).

Humaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club, congratulated Al Shehhi and Al Ali on their achievements, diligence and determination.

He thanked the UAE Swimming Federation and the Sharjah Sports Council, highlighting their effective contribution to the swimmers’ achievement, wishing success to the team’s players in the remainder of the championship.

Jassim Mohammed Al Dokhi, Head of the Individual Games Department, Department of Sports Affairs and Development at the Sharjah Sports Council, explained that Al Shehhi’s excellence confirms the high talent he enjoys and his continuous development with his club, leading to raising the country’s flag with the national team.

Al Shehhi expressed his happiness with this achievement, noting that it is indescribable, especially since it comes in his first participation with the national team. He thanked the UAE Swimming Federation, the Sharjah Sports Council, and the Board of Directors of Al Hamriyah Club, his family and his coach, Captain Ahmed Jamal Al-Din.
