Sharjah 24: The Social Assistance Department of Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) held a community event for people with disabilities and their families, with the aim of promoting their social inclusion and improving the quality of their life.
83 people with disabilities participated in the event, where they were provided with specialised training courses in photography and social media management, with the aim of enhancing their opportunities in the labour market.
The programmes and activities suitable for people with disabilities included many activities such as entertainment programmes, field visits, sports programmes, recreational trips, and field training.
Activities visited Sharjah safari, a sports programme organised at Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled, a visit to the Sharjah Art Museum, field training at the Sharjah Cooperative Society, a communication session at AlAsala Club with the elderly, and an entertainment visit to Al Suyoh Park.
Alia Al Zaabi, Director of the Social Assistance Department, stated that the initiative reflects SSSD commitment to promoting sustainable development and improving people with disabilities quality of life.
Zaabi emphasised the department’s pioneering vision in building a comprehensive and integrated society for all, within the framework of continouys interest to improve the conditions of different groups in the Emirate of Sharjah and its affiliated cities.
Al Zaabi confirmed that cooperation with other institutions towards organising activities for people with disabilities in Al Dhaid, Al Hamriya, Al Madam, Khorfakkan, Kalba, Dibba Al Hisn and Mleiha, highlights institutional integration and provides opportunities for all segments of society.
