Sharjah 24: In the presence of Her Excellency Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Chairperson of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), the Sharjah Age-Friendly Cities Programme executive office, affiliated with the Department, organised a ceremony in honour of the second “Partners’ Meeting”.
The meeting aimed to honour all partner entities from government institutions and departments, at the level of the Emirate of Sharjah, which have contributed positively to enhancing the initiatives and programmes of age-friendly cities.

The ceremony honoured 27 government agencies that contributed to facilitating the age-sensitive work and communication of the Sharjah Age-Friendly Cities Programme executive office.

During her welcoming speech, Asma Al Khudari, Director of the Sharjah Age-Friendly Cities Programme executive office, confirmed that this meeting comes within the framework of strengthening local partnerships and improving the quality of life of the elderly. The meeting also highlighted the office’s role in facing current challenges in cooperation with its partners from governmental and private institutions and the private sector.

Al Khudari expressed her thanks and appreciation to all the partner entities that cooperated with the office in order to enhance services and initiatives for the Sharjah community. Al Khudari also appreciated the role of the coordinators and their active keenness to enhance communication with the office and facilitate ways of cooperation with their entities and the office.

It is noteworthy that the Sharjah Age-Friendly Cities Programme executive office has a leadership position in the field of elderly care, especially since the Emirate of Sharjah has been the only Arab member of the Global Network for Age-Friendly Cities and Communities since 2017.
