Al Thiqah Club receives SCHS students

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) organised an open sports day for students of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), at the headquarters of Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled, with the aim of introducing Paralympic sports and motivating parents to have their children participate in sporting activity.
The event was attended by Her Excellency Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director General of SCHS; Her Excellency Kaltham Obaid Al Matroushi, Member of SSC Board of Directors and Vice President of Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled; Jassim Al Dokhi, Head of the Individual Games Department at the Department of Sports and Development Affairs; and a number of officials.

The event included competitions in different group games under the supervision of the relevant trainers, and included 15 sporting activities. 

The event received great interaction from everyone amid a fun atmosphere among the students, who were celebrated. The event achieved its goal thanks to the collective participation between students and coaches in different competitions, urging families to enrol students in SCHS and sports clubs designated for people with disabilities to invest in their talents, discover them early, and practice  Olympic sports, which has a positive impact on people with disabilities.

On this occasion, His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of SSC, stated that holding the open sports day for students of SCHS is  a contribution by the Council, and a translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, “Supporter of the Disabled.” 

His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami confirmed that he values the city’s efforts to empower the disabled, as an important group in the society, and SSC harnesses all its capabilities  for such programmes, applying the principles of social responsibility, and encouraging students to participate in different sporting activities and practice their favourite hobbies.

Her Excellency Mona Al Yafei thanked SSC for its cooperation in holding the event that the students enjoyed, and praised its positive impact, which was immediately reflected on  students. 

Her Excellency Mona Al Yafei stressed that cooperation with SSC will continue in the future through other activities that raise the spirit of challenge, excellence and success.
