Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council held the 8-kilometre Khorfakkan Bike Challenge on Sunday to commemorate Arab Cycling Day on October 30.
Dr Yaser Omar Al-Doukhi, Director of the council's Sports and Community Events Department, said around 100 men and women sprinted from the Oceanic Hotel to Khorfakkan's Al Suhub Rest Area.
He said this event, one of the recognised races testing individual effort against the clock, donates all its revenues to the national charity campaign Tarahum for Gaza (UAE Relief Campaign to People Affected by War in Gaza) in partnership with the Sharjah Charity International.
The Sports Council's Events Department Director stressed the council's commitment to organising such sports and community events to promote solidarity, improve tourism in Sharjah and its affiliated cities, and make sports a way of life.
