Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has successfully executed over 1,062 charitable projects across various countries where it operates.
These projects aim to bolster and empower artisans and professionals at a total cost of 1.2 million dirhams. In addition, the association has offered a comprehensive monthly aid programme to registered individuals, both citizens and residents within the country, amounting to 14.6 million dirhams, covering the period from January to September of the current year.

This information is based on a report issued by the association in conjunction with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, observed on the 17th of October each year. Through its initiatives on this day, the association underscores its commitment to its humanitarian vision and mission of supporting craftsmen and labourers in securing their livelihoods through their efforts, while also extending assistance to underprivileged groups, including divorced women, widows, and elderly citizens and residents.

Mohammed Rashid bin Bayat, Vice Chairman of the Board of SCI, highlighted that the executed projects encompass a diverse range, including 24 projects in Ethiopia, 90 in Albania, 17 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 4 in the Philippines, 72 in Niger, and 49 in India.

Bin Bayat pointed out that these projects include various aspects such as the distribution of boats and fishing equipment to support fishermen, assistance to farmers, the construction of sales outlets stocked with items like vegetables and fruits, and support for individuals working in the transportation industry. For example, the association provided commonly used means of transportation in developing nations, like motorcycles used for transport in Bangladesh, and three-wheeled vehicles.

The projects have also been instrumental in promoting self-sufficiency for female seamstresses, widows, and divorced women, reducing their reliance on charitable organisations for support. Additionally, the projects encompass endeavours like fish farming, product and clothing sales, car wash facilities, and more.

Bin Bayat further emphasised that the association has initiated direct support programmes for low-income citizens and residents within the country, involving monthly aid amounting to 14.6 million dirhams over the first nine months of the current year 2023.

September marked the month with the highest monthly expenditure, amounting to 1.9 million dirhams, followed by January with a cost of 1.7 million dirhams, and February with a value of 1.694 million dirhams.
