Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI), through its office in Bangladesh and under the supervision of the UAE Embassy in Dhaka, implemented a medical campaign to combat blindness and poor vision, supported by one of SCI donors.
Mohammed Hamdan Al Zari, head of the projects sector and director of the SCI office in Bangladesh, said that with the full support of a philanthropist, the campaign was implemented, providing medical examinations for more than 250 eye patients from the residents of the village of Jusoor.

The necessary operations were carried out for 50 patients, including removing glaucoma; cataracts, a type of visual impairment that causes the eye lens to become weak and unable to see; in addition to treating the cornea, and from this standpoint the campaign embodies its objectives and value in returning eyesight of these patients, which brings joy to their souls and makes them feel the value and blessing of sight.

Al Zari continued by saying that the campaign also provided medical eye glasses to patients, and the medical team carried out periodic follow-up on all cases that underwent surgical operations to ensure the success of the operation, indicating that the project left a positive impact among the beneficiaries, who expressed their thanks to the benefactors and their appreciation for the humanitarian role it plays. The United Arab Emirates helps those in need, especially Sharjah Charity International.

SCI office in Bangladesh opened an eye clinic in the Jusoor area, which aims to provide medical care for eye patients in the region and neighbouring areas. The clinic has the necessary medical equipment to conduct examinations for patients, and the clinic has rooms designated for performing surgical operations on patients whose conditions are ready for surgical intervention.

According to Al Zari, the clinic project comes out of SCI humanitarian role, in providing the simplest elements of a decent life by creating a medical facility to treat the poor and needy, which is a major part of the association’s goals in enabling people to rely on themselves.

Al Zari explained that choosing the project location, in the Jusoor area, came after an extensive study and based on reports that demonstrated the region’s lack of service facilities, especially medical facilities, with poor eyesight among its residents, which necessitated the rapid construction of a medical dispensary that would contribute to providing treatment to the poor in the region and neighbouring areas.

Al Zari extended his sincere thanks to the UAE Embassy in Dhaka and to the philanthropists for the great and continuous support they provide to SCI projects and campaigns, which has brought these projects to fruition and brought joy to the souls of needy people around the world.
