Sharjah24: The Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Est. (SALPE), under the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, has announced the commencement of the second phase of development work for the wheat farm project located in the Mleiha area of Sharjah. This phase aims to prepare the farm entirely for the 2023/2024 agricultural season, covering a total area of 1500 hectares.
This was formally declared during the International Government Communication Forum 2023's contract signing ceremony between the Est. and Elite Agro LLC, which wrapped up its events on Thursday.

In the presence of senior representatives from both parties, the contract was signed by His Excellency Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, the department head, the director of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Est., Dr. Abdulmannaam Mohammed Al Marzouqi, the managing director and executive board member of Elite Agro LLC, a company that specialises in agricultural and animal production investment.

Dr. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji expressed his extreme pride in the efforts made by the Sharjah government to adopt and launch strategic projects in sustainable agricultural investment under, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The goals of these initiatives include achieving wheat self-sufficiency and food security. He said that the wheat farm project in Mleiha, along with other food-related projects launched or announced in various parts of the emirate, serve as solid cornerstones for strengthening food sustainability and achieving the long-term goals defined in Sharjah's sustainability plan.

His Excellency added that the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Est. was eager to enter into a contract with an experienced international business to carry out the project's development work in a way that ensures the accomplishment of its optimistic development goals in accordance with the timetable established for it, and based on the best integrated agricultural solutions and technologies, appropriate operating systems for crops, and in line with various climatic conditions.

He commended the Elite Agro Projects Company's extensive background in planning and constructing agricultural projects with crop-appropriate operating systems, as well as in creating green field projects and medium- and high-tech protected agriculture projects.

Dr. Abdulmannaam Mohammed Al Marzouqi added that the second phase of the project will see the implementation of all operational work by the company's work team, which consists of competent technicians, engineers, mechanics, and experts.
