Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock has revealed its participation agenda for the twelfth edition of the International Government Communication Forum 2023 (IGCF), hosted under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
This event, scheduled for September 13-14, 2023, bears the theme "Today's Resources... Tomorrow's Wealth" and is organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau at Expo Sharjah.

The agenda boasts an array of sessions and workshops featuring experts and specialists in sustainable development, natural resource management, climate change, and government communication. The primary focus is to shed light on Sharjah's agricultural accomplishments, its strategic initiatives, and its responsible management of natural resources, all of which contribute significantly to bolstering food security and sustainable development.

Nada Al Muaini, Director of the Government Communication Department, emphasised that their participation in the Government Communication Forum underscores Sharjah's commitment to sharing its experiences and projects. These initiatives, duly embraced, are showcased alongside successful solutions that advance sustainable food security. She underscored the paramount importance of food security, not just for Sharjah but for the entire United Arab Emirates, while highlighting the department's ongoing efforts in adopting cutting-edge agricultural systems and expanding its scope.

The main sessions on the platform of the Department of Agriculture will delve into agricultural sustainability and underscore the critical significance of enhancing food security as a top-tier strategic goal. Additionally, these sessions will spotlight Sharjah's distinctive agricultural journey, with a notable highlight being the groundbreaking wheat farm in Mleiha, representing a pioneering model for achieving self-sufficiency and producing safe, environmentally friendly, chemical-free, and non-genetically modified food.

The Department's platform at the Government Communication Forum stands out with its specialised workshops, which illuminate the themes of natural and animal resources, their sustainability, biodiversity, pastoral strategies, agricultural practices within protected greenhouses, and the adoption of state-of-the-art technologies that foster increased production.
