Sharjah24: The Sharjah Police General Command (SPGC) arrested a driver of Arab nationality within only 3 hours of receiving the report of a driver who fled the scene after hitting an Asian person, on one of the emirate's public roads, causing moderate to serious injuries to a man of Asian nationality, who then was taken to Al Qassimi Hospital for treatment.
According to a report received by the Sharjah Police Operations Room, stating that an Asian person was run over and sustained moderate to serious injuries in an accident on Second Industrial Street in the emirate. The driver responsible for the incident ran away.
Accordingly, the Police began their investigation and was able to track down the culprit, succeeding in arresting him within 3 hours, thanks for Sharjah Police's traffic tracking systems and smart cameras.
Traffic and Patrols Directorate launched its awareness campaign, “The road is a right for drivers and pedestrians,” in early July, for a period of one month, aiming of enhancing traffic culture among road users, including drivers and pedestrians.
Sharjah Police calls to adhere to the traffic rules and to safely cross roads from the places designated for it, and not escape from accident sites, which leads to criminal charges.
