Sharjah24: The Friends of Kidney Patients Association (FOKP) of the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah launched the activities of the second phase of the "Healthy Kidneys" campaign targeting children and adolescents to raise awareness of the importance of keeping kidneys healthy to prevent kidney diseases.
According to global indicators published in 2022, 10% of the world's population suffers from chronic kidney disease, which burdens health systems due to the high cost of treatment. Kidney diseases branch into non-chronic diseases that are connected to many other diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.
Mona Al Hawai, Chairperson of the Friends of Kidney Patients Association, stated that the association takes it upon itself to raise awareness in Sharjah, and to support kidney patients, in particular, via programmes and awareness campaigns, translating the directives of the Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
