Sharjah24 :The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPPA) in Sharjah launches the 6th edition of the "Together for a More Beautiful Summer" Program" under the title "Environmental Guide" from July 10th to 19th. This program aims to fulfill our vital role in promoting awareness about the environment and natural life, with a particular focus on children and adolescents.
The objective of this summer program is to equip participants, aged between 10 to 15 years, with the knowledge and skills required to become environmental guides. This program is an extension of the previous session, which focused on providing participants with comprehensive environmental guidance.
To ensure the success of the program, specialists from the Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum, the Islamic Botanical Garden, the Children's Farm, and Arabia’s Wildlife Centre will actively participate in the implementation of the activities. These specialists are well-versed in the roles of environmental guides, as well as reception staff in museums.

Her Excellency Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah said: In line with the directives of His His Highness, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, we are committed to implementing various programs for participating students that cater to their needs and enhance their knowledge and dedicated to promoting environmental awareness among the younger generation. Through this program, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and care for the environment in our youth."
Her Excellency Hana Saif Al Suwaidi added, "The selection of this year's program theme and its content was a deliberate and specialized process. We anticipate that it will be a tremendous success and yield positive results in the future. This program will foster human connections, promote environmental awareness, and spread the importance of protecting our surroundings. It is our duty to preserve the achievements of our nation and contribute to the progress and civilization of our beloved emirate of Sharjah."
Various activities at Desert Park Centers
The journey begins with an introductory tour of the Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum, where participants will familiarize themselves with the tasks. They will also learn about the rules and regulations for maintaining the museum and acquire additional skills relevant to the role. Also, participants will visit the Islamic Botanical Garden, where they will learn about the significance of environmental guides in the UAE. They will receive a detailed overview of the garden's plant species, including the selection criteria and cultivation methods. Participants will also develop skills in visitor reception and guiding techniques.
At the Children's Farm, participants will engage in training workshops on visitor reception and conducting informative tours around the farm. They will actively contribute to the preparation and presentation of workshops that offer visitors an enriching and entertaining experience based on knowledge.
Arabia’s Wildlife Centre will expose participants to further knowledge and skills. Activities will include lizards' feeding sessions, art workshops, visitor reception and direction, ticket stamping, and record-keeping of museum visitor statistics, among others.
The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah seeks to protect the environment, natural reserves, wildlife, and their biodiversity through scientific studies and research. The EPAA publishes educational awareness material, implements policies for environmental awareness and programs, and launches specialized campaigns in the field of environmental awareness and education.
