Sharjah24: Dalal Al Yamahi, Director of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) branch in the city of Kalba announced that an event named "Wonders of Raptors" took place on Wednesday at the Kalba Bird of Prey Centre. A significant turnout of school students from Kalba, government employees, and visitors to the centre attended the event.
The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) hosted the "Wonders of Birds of Prey" event at the Kalba Bird of Prey Centre. Al Yamahi emphasised that the event was designed to inform attendees about endangered birds of prey and the critical need for their conservation, highlighting their essential role in maintaining ecological balance, as well as showcasing their distinctive characteristics, habitats, and behaviours.
In her remarks to “Sharjah24”, Al Yamahi noted that the event started with a live demonstration featuring a variety of birds of prey. Attendees, including school students, had the opportunity to witness the birds' flying skills and their reactions to the commands given by professional trainers.
The event included a guided tour of the Kalba Bird of Prey Centre, showcasing its collection of birds and animals as well as the environmental services provided. An exhibition area showcased bird-themed art displays, combined with workshops focused on drawing and sculpture. Also during the event, several experts offered in-depth insights into the traits and actions of various birds of prey.
Al Yamahi invited the public to enjoy the winter season by visiting the Authority’s centers, including the Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Centre, Khor Kalba Mangrove Center, and Khor Kalba Birds of Prey Center, where visitors can experience and learn about the environmental treasures of Sharjah.
