In her speech during the ceremony, H.E. Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah emphasized the importance of the initiative in fostering environmental awareness among young generations and instilling sustainability principles within educational institutions. She highlighted how the initiative has successfully created a competitive environment that encourages students to innovate and actively contribute to the protection of natural resources.
"The continued success of this initiative reflects EPAA’s commitment to spreading environmental awareness and strengthening sustainable development principles, aligning with Sharjah’s vision to balance economic growth and environmental preservation. Today, we take pride in celebrating the efforts of students, educators, and school administrations who have actively contributed to this initiative and enhanced environmental participation within schools," Al Suwaidi stated.
She further noted that the remarkable engagement from schools and educational institutions in the second edition of the initiative demonstrates a growing level of environmental consciousness within the community. "We have witnessed innovative projects that reflect students' eagerness to present practical ideas supporting sustainable development. This commitment is a direct reflection of Sharjah’s strategic vision, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who prioritizes environmental sustainability as a key pillar of comprehensive development."
Al Suwaidi expressed her delight at the initiative’s accomplishments and the strong collaboration between EPAA and educational institutions. She commended the initiative for fostering community engagement in environmental issues and equipping future generations to become sustainability leaders. She extended her heartfelt congratulations to all winners and participants and conveyed her appreciation to everyone who contributed to the initiative’s success, affirming that future editions will continue to inspire innovation and creativity in environmental protection.
The ceremony featured a documentary video showcasing the initiative’s key achievements, the environmental projects submitted by students, and the impactful contributions made by participating schools in environmental innovation, resource conservation, and raising awareness about climate change and its effects on local ecosystems.
As part of its recognition efforts, the EPAA honored key governmental and educational institutions for their crucial role in supporting and implementing environmental activities that contributed to the success of the initiative. These institutions included the Ministry of Education, the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) – Dubai. Their collaborative efforts played a significant role in fostering environmental awareness and sustainability practices within schools.
The ceremony also highlighted the achievements of winning schools across various educational categories, celebrating their innovative environmental projects that have enriched school environments and reinforced a strong commitment to sustainability. In the Kindergarten Category, ASPAM Indian International School, Sharjah, secured first place for its outstanding contributions.
For the Primary Education (Cycle 1) Category, Zayed Education Complex, Al Bidya - Fujairah, claimed first place, followed by Jewairyah Bent Al Hareth School, Fujairah, in second place, and Atekah Bint Zaid School, Sharjah, in third place. Meanwhile, in the Primary Education (Cycle 2) Category, GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai, took the top spot, with Ibn Seena English High School, Sharjah, securing second place, and Al Sedra Private School, Sharjah, earning third place.
In the Secondary Education Category, Al Shola Private School, Ajman, was awarded first place, followed by Al Bridi Girls School, Sharjah, in second place, and Al Hikmah Private School, Ajman, in third place.
Each of these schools demonstrated exceptional creativity and dedication in developing impactful environmental projects that promote sustainability, encourage responsible environmental practices, and inspire students to take an active role in protecting the planet. Their innovative contributions reflect a growing commitment to environmental stewardship and reinforce the importance of integrating sustainability into education.
