Sharjah24: Under the patronage of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Foundation for Women's Sports, and President of the Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi Award for Sports Excellence, the terms and criteria for the first edition of the award were announced, at a press conference, held on Wednesday, in the House of Wisdom in Sharjah.
Representatives of sports clubs and institutions attended the press conference.
Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, stated during exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24" that he feels honoured to be the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi Award, hoping to meet Sheikha Jawaher's expectations.
He added that the award would provide a huge addition to the sports in Sharjah, especially since this stage requires more outstanding excellence through the participating segments.
He stated that the award includes 12 segments in 4 main categories, which are the innovative sports category, which includes the best athlete, the best rising star athlete, and the best young athlete; the category of future partners includes the best media influencer, the best activist in sports forums, the best maker of sports opportunities, the best sports mentor, the best family, the best sports support institution and the best financial support institution; the age achievement category, and personality of the year category, emphasising the excellence of the award at the local and Arab levels and working to take it globally as it founded through best sports awards criteria.
