Sharjah24: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has left no stone unturned in its preparations to ferry passengers between cities, with an extensive operational blueprint in place for the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr holiday. The Authority plans to increase the number of daily trips to a whopping 5,795 during the four-day holiday, ensuring that they are fully equipped to accommodate the anticipated growth in passenger numbers.
According to Engineer Yousef Khamis Muhammad Al Alathmani, Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA),stressed that the Authority has taken measures to provide the largest possible number of trips and employees to cope with the expected spike in passenger numbers between cities during Eid Al-Fitr. The service will commence at the Jubail Station for all lines from 3:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m.
The Authority's Eid plan is centered around the augmentation of the number of transport buses between cities and scaling up the operational capacity for all lines to counteract the anticipated surge in daily passenger numbers, with a whopping 845 buses earmarked for the holiday.
To ensure hassle-free transport and sidestep congestion at stations, the Authority has slashed the time between buses plying on its 15 main lines between cities during peak hours from 45 minutes on regular days to just 5 minutes during Eid Al-Fitr. This strategic move will not only boost operational capacity but also enhance the service quality offered to the public, aimed at offering flexible and convenient travel times to cater to the needs of all transportation users in the Emirate.
Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of the SRTA’s Transport Affairs, stated that the Authority has spared no effort in preparing for the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr holiday. With a focus on ensuring passenger safety and satisfaction, the Authority has increased the number of shift workers, including monitors and security personnel, to regulate passenger traffic at the Jubail Station and other stations. They have also taken measures to ensure that buses adhere to their schedules and to manage passenger flow in and out of the buses, all while maintaining high standards of safety and prevention.
To further streamline the process and avoid overcrowding, the Authority has added new ticket-selling outlets within the station, in addition to the existing ones on the buses themselves. This will allow passengers to easily purchase tickets and prevent delays caused by large crowds.
Al Jarwan emphasized that the Authority is committed to meeting the needs of station visitors and callers by providing a 24-hour call center to answer inquiries about bus schedules, ticket prices, complaints, and any other concerns.
