Sharjah24: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) will operate 7,000 intercity bus trips using 180 buses from March 29 to April 2 as part of a comprehensive operational plan for Eid Al-Fitr. The aim is to ensure the continuity and efficiency of transportation services while meeting the expected increase in passenger numbers.

Complete Readiness Confirmed

SRTA has announced its complete readiness to oversee daily passenger transport during the Eid holidays, implementing a strategy designed to facilitate an effortless movement of journeys. A notable rise in the number of trips has been implemented to meet the increasing demand from travelers.

Strategic Location Advantage

Eng. Yousef Khamees Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, emphasized Sharjah’s strategic location and its close connection to other emirates and neighboring countries, which enhances mobility, particularly during long public holidays.

Addressing Growing Demand

Al Othmani emphasised the need to intensify public transport services in response to population growth and high demand during peak periods like holidays. SRTA has implemented flexible strategies to improve the quality and efficiency of services, expanding the transport network to reduce waiting times and ensure safe and comfortable travel.

180 Buses Deployed

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has deployed a fleet of 180 intercity buses across multiple cities in Sharjah to accommodate the increased demand during the holiday period, with a focus on ensuring safe and comfortable travel. The authority emphasized the importance of maintaining smooth and reliable daily operations throughout Eid.

Reduced Bus Intervals

The Authority has implemented new measures aimed at enhancing fleet efficiency, reducing bus intervals during peak Eid hours down to 5 minutes, a significant reduction from the usual 45 minutes on regular days. The objective is to alleviate congestion at stations and enhance the overall travel experience.

SRTA has enhanced operations at Al Jubail and other stations by boosting staff levels during Eid to effectively manage passenger flow. Al Jubail Station will operate services from 3:45 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. on all lines.

Al Othmani announced that SRTA will operate 12 public bus lines for Eid, providing 1,144 trips each day across 546 stops with a fleet of 104 buses. Careful management of intervals between trips ensures on-time service, supporting the ongoing efforts to expand and improve public transportation throughout Sharjah.

Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, the Director of Transportation Affairs at SRTA, has officially announced the introduction of Route 203 to Muscat, which will feature two daily trips. The initiative seeks to enhance connections with Oman, featuring contemporary and secure buses that leave Sharjah at 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase through the "Mwasalat Oman" online platform or directly at Al Jubail Bus Station. A one-way ticket is priced at 10 Omani riyals (approximately AED 100), whereas a return ticket is available for 19 Omani riyals (around AED 190), providing economical travel choices.

Marine Transport Ready

The Marine Transport Department of SRTA is set to launch water transport services between Sharjah and Dubai for the Eid celebrations. Eight trips will operate daily in collaboration with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority to meet the rising demand.

Sharjah-Dubai Water Trips

Marine trips are set to launch from Sharjah’s Aquarium Station to Dubai’s Ghubaiba Station, providing a quick and effective travel option for the holiday season. This initiative is designed to facilitate travel between the two emirates and enhance marine connectivity.

Departures from Sharjah will be at 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, and 21:00, while return trips from Dubai will be at 15:00, 17:00, 20:00, and 22:00. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes, offering a quick and comfortable option.

Commitment to Safety

Al Jarwan emphasised that SRTA is committed to providing safe and efficient marine transport services, upholding the highest standards of safety and comfort to meet passenger expectations during the holiday season.
