His Excellency Yousef Khamis Al-Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, stated:“The organisation of this workshop reflects the Authority’s commitment to anticipating the future of smart transport, boosting the emirate’s preparedness to adopt cutting-edge technologies, and implementing global best practices.”
He explained that the workshop provided an opportunity for public and private sector entities to exchange knowledge and expertise. It also shed light on the challenges and opportunities related to integrating autonomous vehicles into Sharjah’s road and transport infrastructure, alongside discussing the legislative and technical frameworks required to ensure safe and efficient implementation.
He stressed that the Authority is committed to implementing comprehensive strategies that support the shift towards a smart and sustainable transport system, in cooperation with partners from both government and private sectors. This aligns with Sharjah Government’s ambitious vision to enhance service delivery by leveraging and enabling innovative tools that boost operational efficiency and strengthen the emirate’s position as a leader in adopting innovative solutions.
His Excellency Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs at SRTA, explained that the Authority has already begun studying operational models based on artificial intelligence and data analysis. This aims to prepare for the adoption of tech-driven solutions that support decision-making and improve service efficiency. He noted that the workshop was conducted as part of the Authority’s strategic plan to implement an advanced transport system, and its outcomes can be used to shape a roadmap ensuring Sharjah’s readiness for the future of smart mobility.
