Sharjah 24: Yesterday, Saturday, the Sharjah Sports Council organised the second edition of the “Paralympic Day” at the headquarters of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, with the aim of introducing the public to the games and sports of people with disabilities in their various categories, and to confirm the role of sport in empowering them, their partnership, and their distinction among the segments of society, which led a number of talented people to global podiums.
The activities of the Paralympic Day, which were held in cooperation with the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, the Association of Families of Persons with Disabilities, the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled and the Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, included various activities that combined sports, culture and entertainment under the supervision of the Social and Cultural Committee and the follow-up of games experts in the Sports and Development Affairs Department of the Council, as well as volleyball competitions, basketball, table tennis, badminton, weightlifting, bocce, and drawing.
Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, praised the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, "the advocate of the disabled.
