Sharjah24: Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled in Sharjah continued its intensive preparations to host the tenth edition of the "Sharjah International Athletics Forum for the Disabled", which will be held from 14 to 17 March under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The forum’s activities will be held in track competitions 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 5000m, in addition to the field competitions “mace – disc – spear – shot put – high jump – long jump – triple jump” and include the categories of motor, visual and mental disabilities, cerebral palsy and amputation.
Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled, Chairman of the Organising Committee, praised the valued care for the disabled from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah which resulted in recording achievements in international forums.
Bin Khaden pointed out that the UAE now ranks among the world in organizing world championships and is considered a main destination for world champions to participate in this great sporting event.
He added that the successes achieved by Sharjah in hosting the World Games and the previous editions of the Sharjah Athletics Forum for the Disabled put on us many responsibilities towards achieving more successes.
