Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) has issued a booklet to monitor the needs of people with disabilities and the quality of care for them in accordance with the standards of care and inclusion.
The booklet, which was prepared by the knowledge section in the department, is a study to monitor the conditions of people with disabilities in the country in general and Sharjah in particular. The booklet also addressed the services delivered to people with disability by the concerned agencies in the country’s public and private sectors.
The 40 –page booklet is divided into 3 parts, the first of which deals with the theoretical framework of the study, while the second part reviewed the results of the study, and in the third part, the booklet reviewed the recommendations and the study outputs.
The booklet aims to identify the needs of the disabled registered in the list of beneficiaries of the SSSD, in order to identify the requirements that impede the achievement of the desired standard of living, health and education, the forms of support required within the framework of the services of the department and how to support families in facing the costs incurred by some of them to enable the disabled have and meet their living and complementary requirements. The booklet also included statistics of the number of disabled in the UAE and Sharjah’s efforts in providing support services for the disabled, represented by the Ministry of Education, Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, the Resource Centre for Persons with Disabilities at the University of Sharjah, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, Sharjah Airport, and the Trust Club for the Disabled, in addition to to the Department of Social Services.
