Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD)’s Children's Social Welfare Home, is one of the alternative family homes in the UAE, concerned with helping for children who lack social care, meeting their physiological, social, health and educational needs.
This comes through recreational programmes and activities, and the home also works to secure children's rights, provide protection, manage their financial affairs, reintegrate them into their families, if any, or secure alternative families for them.

The Children’s Social Welfare Home was established under the umbrella of the SSSD in 2006 to temporarily house children who lack social care until their family conditions improve, or fostering them in alternative families.

The home currently welcomes children between the ages of one month and up to 18 years, and according to Hanan Al Khayal, Acting Director of the Children’s Social Welfare Home, the children live in the home as if they were staying in their own homes. Various employees, such as social workers, psychologists, supervisors, and nannies, care for them.
