Sharjah24: The Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) has recently constructed the Sharjah Healthcare City building according to all international standards that grant it a classification as one of the environmentally friendly green buildings, in addition to the Al Wusta channel building and the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services building in Khorfakkan.
There are some international standards that competent institutions grant to measure the extent to which the building is compatible with the environment and the possibility of classifying it as a green building.

Green buildings, in general, depend on techniques that take into account the environment in the materials used, energy consumption, and sustainability; some of them depend on raw materials in construction and are keen to use what is in the vicinity of the environment of the place such as building with compacted soil or sandbags. Some of them depend on modern technologies to preserve energy, its generation, and recycling using advanced solar power solutions and reclaimed water. Renewable energy sources improve the environmental quality of buildings, reduce the negative impact on the ecosystem, and help establish protocols for assessing the environment and energy. It is necessary to resort to the ecological principles known internationally as Green buildings, which aim to significantly reduce or, more precisely, eliminate the negative impact of buildings on the environment and the building's occupants

Engineer Alia Al Rand described that the Sharjah Healthcare City building is a sustainable, environmentally friendly green building that was built according to the best environmentally friendly standards to spread awareness among the public and encourage individuals and companies to apply and use renewable energies and energy-saving systems to preserve the environment and natural resources in the emirate. Confirming that the Sharjah Healthcare City building, which has an area of 9,850 square meters, is typical, as it uses solar power as the primary source to generate electricity and cover the building's energy needs 18 W Peak by 100%. It is equipped with modern systems that increase the efficiency of the building's operation, such as air conditioners with smart sensor units. It is affected by the activity of people. It enhances the air conditioner's work and saves energy according to the thermal situation in the rooms, in addition to using energy-saving LED lighting units, which are in line with green building standards, natural lighting systems such as solar tubes and skylights were used.
