Sharjah 24: The Department of the Punishment and Correctional Institution of Sharjah Police, in cooperation with the Sharjah Charity International and the Dental Implant Research Centre in Dubai, continued its annual medical campaign in its twentieth edition, within the specialised care project for dental treatment and implants for the institution’s inmates with the participation of a group of highly qualified and distinguished consultants, doctors and nurses within the country.
Attending the launch were Colonel Mona Sorour Al Shuwaihi, Deputy Director of the Department of the Punishment and Correctional Institution, and a number of officers and non-commissioned officers in the institution.
Six senior volunteer doctors participated in the initiative, which was implemented Wednesday morning, August 17, benefiting a number of the institution's inmates.
Colonel Al Shuaihi affirmed the leadership’s keenness to continue organising various initiatives for the institution’s inmates with its various strategic partners, as the dental implant project has been going on for a long time and is organised in two phases annually. The initiative stems from Sharjah Police’s belief to provide all aspects of appropriate health care for inmates, and to ensure that they obtain their rights that are consistent with international laws, norms and conventions related to human rights.
Colonel Al Shuaihi indicated that the dental implant campaign is one of the pioneering initiatives that serve the inmates in a manner commensurate with their needs and requirements from the human aspects, especially inmates who suffer from constant tooth loss.
